Here we go again for another recipe: home-made peanut butter. We all know that Americans love, adore and even worship this creamy paste! and I have to confess that even as a French, I love peanut butter!
You will perhaps wonder why making your own peanut butter when you can buy it in every store? simply because it’s crap !!! additives, added sugars, oils … everything that can enhance the taste! Peanut butter is already a bit fat, it gets even worse. And we agree that if you are into bodybuilding, it ain’t the best…
By making your home-made paste, say goodbye to all those craps! And you won’t regret eating peanut butter anymore; it’s excellent for your health.
Ingredients (1 person)
Choose your peanuts with care. When looking at the ingredients on the package, you should only see peanuts, oil and salt. If you see any other ingredient, do not buy these peanuts.
You can also buy fresh peanuts, the one with shells which is even better. In this case, you need to add a step to your preparation.
Roasting and Salting
If you bought fresh peanuts, you will have to roast them first. You can either keep the shells (cooking faster) or remove them.
Preheat the oven to 180˚C and then place your peanuts on a baking sheet covered with greaseproof paper.
Now be patient. It takes around 15 to 20min to cook your peanuts with shells (the shell absorbs and retains heat) and 20 to 25 minutes for shelled peanuts.
Once your peanuts are roasted, remove them from the oven. If you chose peanuts with shell, it’s time to remove them – wrap them in a towel and press them to break the shells. When finished, get rid of the shells to keep the peanuts only.
You’ll start seasoning and salting your peanuts as soon as you take them out from the oven. Do not put too much!
Your peanuts are ready! now, it’s time to make a delicious peanut butter.
Start your blender and be patient.
Peanuts will go through several stages. First, they will be crushed then they will turn into powder. The center of your mixer should absorb the powder in some kind of whirlwind. If nothing turns, scrape the sides of the mixer to push the powder toward the center of the mixer. Watch out for the blades!
The powder will gradually turn into a paste then butter. The butter will eventually replace the powder.
Keep your blender on for a while to ensure that the butter is creamy.
Your delicious home-made peanut butter is ready! you just have to put it in glass jars. Once they cooled down, the jars have to be stored in a refrigerator to keep the peanut butter fresh for several weeks.
Note: depending on the power of your blender, it will take 5 to 15 minutes to transform your peanuts into peanut butter. There is no need to add oil or anything else. Peanuts contain natural oil that will be released once the blender is working.
Excellent for …
– bulking. Oilseeds (peanuts, walnuts, almonds …) are fruits full of fat. Peanut butter is no exception. With a relatively high caloric value, 600kcal per 100g, it will be an excellent ally for your bulking period. You can eat it in the morning with bread or as a snack.
Home-made peanut butter is excellent for several reasons. As you know, it is rich in fat but low in saturated fat, making it an excellent source of fat.
The fact that it’s home-made avoids having a lot of carbs and sugar. Therefore, home-made peanut butter may even be consumed while trying to get shredded.
Don’t forget that even when trying to get ripped you need to eat some fat. Nothing is better than eating a good source of fat like home-made peanut butter that will provide you your daily fat intake while you keep eating yummy stuff.
